The Horror of the Clown

Something was going on in the 1970s and I’m not too sure I am on board with the random change the handbooks underwent. Here, we see an unnamed clown guiding freshmen through their first year of college. While this may have been an attempt to make things a bit more light-hearted, it doesn’t seem to fit the atmosphere and students that would have been on campus at the time.

What Not to Wear

The image of the clown being pulled in all directions comes off as creepy, instead of the cord of relatability I’m sure they were attempting with how overwhelming your first year can be. It only gets worse with the introduction of the cartoon werewolf that guides you through your first year. These characters come off as clunky and don’t feel very relatable to the women that would have been entering the college at this time.
